Accommodations
Rooms have two single beds. Beds are made prior to arrival with a pillow, pillowcase, sheets, blanket, and bedspread. Two towels, a facecloth, and a bar of soap are provided for each guest.
All accommodations are provided as a package which includes
housing and dining services for the duration of a program. There
is no reduction in price for late arrivals, early departures or
missed meals. The package price is determined by multiplying the
daily rate by the number of nights of occupancy. A minimum two-night
stay and two meals per day are required.
Housing List
Two weeks prior to the arrival of your group, an alphabetical housing list
identifying all guests requiring housing, and a rooming list designating roommates for double occupancy rooms must be submitted.
Parking
Parking permits are required and must be placed on the dashboard of each vehicle. Vehicles that have a University Annual parking permit may park on site at no additional cost. A Conference Identification Slip (given at check-in) must also be displayed.
For those participants who do not have a campus permit, the current
cost is $35.00 per week. Weekly permits must be ordered by the
organizer in advance and are charged to the master bill. Unfortunately,
we cannot collect directly from individuals for permits and any
unused permits cannot be returned for credit.
The 2003 summer rates are as follows:
- $8.00 / day
- $35.00 / week
There is also a dispensing machine from which individuals may purchase permits for $7.00 per vehicle (on a daily basis during summer: weekends or after 5pm weekdays during academic year). Daily permits expire every morning (including weekends) at 9:00 am. Therefore, it is important that daily permits be purchased prior to 9:00 am to avoid citations. Parking information should be included in your advance literature and registration materials to participants. Please note that parking rates are subject to change without notice.
Recreation Activities
The Strawberry Canyon Recreation Area, the Recreation Sports Facility (RSF), and Hearst Gymnasium are available to conference guests. Strawberry Canyon has two swimming pools and barbecue areas. The RSF has swimming pools, weight rooms, handball, squash, racquetball, tennis courts and fitness and aerobic classes. In addition, there are tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, a jogging track and a swimming pool available at the Golden Bear Recreation Center, which is located behind the Clark Kerr Campus. For current pool hours, please call the Pool Hotline at (510) 643-7470.
The cost for a recreation card which will permit access to all
of these areas is currently $18.00 per person, per week. Recreation
cards must be ordered in advance and are charged to the master bill.
If the conference participants would not benefit from the weekly recreation card, the facilities are also available on a fee per entry basis. The daily entry fees at each facility are as follows:
- Strawberry Canyon -- $5.00 / day (pool access only) $10.00 / day (fitness center and pool access)
- Golden Bear Recreation Center -- $5.00 / day
- Recreation Sports Facility (RSF) -- $10.00 / day
No one under 16 years of age will be permitted into the RSF.
Telephone Service
Telephones with campus and local dialing service (within a 12-mile
radius) are provided in each room at no extra charge. Long distance
phone calls must be charged to calling cards or major credit cards.
Telephones and dialing instructions are provided in each room.
Ethernet Connections
Network connections are located in each sleeping room and are
free to conference groups. Arrangements for your conference participants
to have access to these in-room connections must be made in advance.
Please visit our Conference Services Computing and Networking
website at http://www.rescomp.berkeley.edu/confsvcs
to arrange in-room connections for your conference guests. Once
you have registered your conference, each guest will need to visit
this website to register and activate his or her in-room connection.
Conference hosts are responsible for all network traffic originating
from machines that have registered on our network. Conference
participants must abide by Residential Computing's Appropriate
Use Policies. Conference participants should not attempt any modification
of the University's network hardware.

Smoke Free Policy
The University has adopted a Smoke Free Policy that applies to all facilities owned or leased by the University of California, Berkeley, regardless of location. Smoking is permitted outdoors, except within fifteen feet of building entrances and exits.
Deposit
A $25.00 per person deposit and letter of request are required to
confirm reservations. The deposit is non-refundable and will be
applied to the final bill.
To guarantee reservations with an Interdepartmental Order and/or
Charge form (IOC), we will issue an IOC that must be returned
with the name and account number to be charged and an authorized
signature. The IOC will not be processed until after the conclusion
of the program, however, if the program should cancel, 80% of
the final guarantee number of people will be applied to the IOC.
Guarantee
A final guarantee number of people requiring accommodations
is due at the time of your reservation. You will be held financially
responsible for 80% of the guarantee number of people (or the number
of people on the Conference Housing List, whichever is greater)
multiplied by the accommodations package rate.
Payment
A master bill is generated for all services provided for the conference program. Full payment based on the number of people on the housing list, (or 80% of your guarantee number at time of booking, whichever is greater) multiplied by the package prices, less deposit is due along with the Conference Housing and Rooming Lists two weeks prior to the conference start date.
The final invoice will be sent after the conference concludes and will include charges for commuter meal packages, guest meals, special functions, refreshment services, early arrivals or late departures, parking permits, recreation cards, copying services, missing keys and any incidental charges. Please make checks payable to UC Regents.
If payment is made with an Interdepartmental Order and/or Charge (IOC), we will not process it until the conclusion of the program. At that time we will prepare a statement itemizing charges for accommodations, commuter meal packages, guest meals, special functions, refreshment services, early arrivals or late departures, parking permits, recreation cards, copying services, missing keys and any incidental charges.
