Parking

Street parking around the Berkeley campus is limited, and the City of Berkeley requires a permit to park on city streets. Vehicles without permits are subject to two-hour parking restrictions between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Alternative options include using public transportation or parking at public lots.

Permits for Residence Hall Lots

Parking permits are required for all Residence Hall lots, and must be placed on the dashboard of each vehicle. Permits must be ordered by the organizer in advance and will be charged to the master bill. Unfortunately, we cannot bill individuals directly for permits, and unused permits cannot be returned for credit.

Vehicles that have a University annual parking permit may park onsite at no additional cost.

Parking information should be included in your advance literature and registration materials distributed to participants.

Rates

Parking permits will be charged at the rate of $14.00 per day. This rate is subject to change on July 1, 2014.

Dispensing Machines

Individuals may also purchase daily permits from dispensing machines in the Residence Hall lots. Rates are varied based upon the amount of time you will be parking. We recommend your guests read the posted instructions very carefully. Please be aware that exact change is required for these machines and daily permits expire every morning (including weekends).

Please note that parking rates are subject to change without notice.

Bus Parking

Parking demands are very high on the Berkeley campus, therefore charter bus parking is limited. We recommend that bus parking be scheduled for either Monday through Friday after 5:30 pm, or on a weekend, when campus parking is more readily available. Bus parking can be pre-arranged through the Event Services division of the Parking & Transportation department. They can be reached at (510) 642-5401. Please note, if insufficient notice is given prior to an event, late fees may be charged.

You are also welcome to make parking arrangements with the City of Berkeley. The Transportation Division can be reached at (510) 981-7010.
