If you are arriving soon, you may obtain rental listings by e-mail in advance of your arrival. This service also includes online viewing of listing updates on the web in addition to regular e-mail updates. Obtaining listings in advance will help you to become acquainted with the rental market and enable you to make viewing appointments so you will have places to see when you arrive. All students registered in the current semester can link to our listing service, initiate an account and bill the cost to their CARS account (the campus billing system). The cost for a month of listing updates is $30, and we offer a second month free if you tell us you need it. To start, simply click: Web Updates and "Sign Up". If you are eligible for the services but are not currently registered, you may begin this same service by faxing the following information to our private fax at (510) 642-4026. A copy of your letter of admission or your CAL student ID card if you have one already. (Or, proof of your University affiliation if an affiliated student.) Your e-mail address, clearly typed or printed A daytime phone number where you can be reached if we have a question. A Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card number for the $30 charge. (Remember, we give a free month after your paid month if you inform us you need it.) The expiration date on the credit card. The name as it appears on the card. Your housing criteria: the maximum rent you are willing to pay, the minimum bedrooms required, whether shared housing is acceptable (usually your own room in a shared household), and the maximum tolerable commute to campus. Anything else you think we should know about you in terms of housing. We will initiate your account upon receipt of your fax.
