Faculty Housing

Objective

Faculty Housing provides housing for the recruitment and retention of new UC Berkeley faculty members.  It’s meant as transitional housing. Priority is based on the CKC PAINTINGfaculty’s appointment confirmation and want date.

Apartments and amenities

There are 24 unfurnished apartments including six units with townhouse style, some with Bay views, handicapped equipped, courtyard access, circular staircases, and arched windows. Faculty apartments are located at the Clark Kerr Campus (CKC), which is a 20-minute walk to the main campus.  Each apartment features a stove, refrigerator, ceramic tile in kitchen and bathroom, carpeting, and curtains.  Utilities include water, electricity, internet access, and trash disposal. Two coin-operated laundry facilities are located in the main building.  Parking at CKC is available via Parking & Transportation services.  CKC offers recreational activities to all residents.

Eligibility
Faculty Staff apartments are reserved for new tenured and tenure track Berkeley faculty. A letter from your Dean is required to place your name on the waiting list. Names expire from the waiting list after the semester of initial hire.

Contract terms
Tenancy is month to month with a limit of two years.

Rental rates
Apartments range in rental rates depending on size.  See monthly rents below. Rents are subject to an annual increase each July.
