These recently constructed mini-suite buildings are located in the Unit 1 complex, which is 1 block south of the Berkeley campus. Christian Hall is located to the north on Durant Avenue, west of College Avenue. Slottman Hall is to the south on Channing Way, west of College Avenue. Each mini-suite consists of two spacious bedrooms, either two doubles or a double and a triple, plus its own bathroom. Each mini-suite is single-gender.
Christian and Slottman Halls are identical to the mini-suite building in nearby Unit 2, which is the Katharine A. Towle Residence Hall. The contemporary architecture of these buildings features polished concrete and glass, letting in lots of natural light. They face central courtyards with fresh landscaping. Below the Unit 1 and Unit 2 courtyards are each Unit's offices and student mailboxes, the Academic Services Centers and Multi-Purpose Rooms, a small gym and conference rooms. These are shared by each site's original four highrise towers.
- maple furniture including extra long twin size beds with underbed drawers and bookcase, desk, desk chair, closet with 3 drawer dresser.
- high speed internet lines, basic cable TV hookup, lounges and study rooms available on each floor.
- Each mini-suite building includes an apartment designed for a faculty family to live in the residence and serve as a resource for all the students in the Unit complex. A successful pilot program was started in Katherine A. Towle Hall for Unit 2 and plans are being made to continue this exciting new program in Christian and Slottman Halls for Unit 1.
