Life at Bowles
Ki, a sophomore, is from Los Angeles, CA. He is studying Industrial Operations and Research. Ki is also on the Hall Staff team at Bowles and plays intramural soccer with his residents. An avid surfer, Ki uses the walls in his room to display surfing photos and other artwork that he has created.

Q: What was your first impression of Bowles Hall?
A: Everyone says that Bowles Hall looks like Hogwarts, and it's true. The castle-like façade is very reminiscent of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Q: What sets Bowles apart from the other residence halls?
A: As Bowles is the oldest residence hall, we're the only dormitory with unique traditions that all incoming residents can participate in. For example, every Thursday the men of Bowles walks down the street to sing to the ladies of Stern. Also, Bowles is the perfect setting for the Halloween carnival for Oakland kids that RHA puts on each year, and we usually win the title of Scariest Haunted House.

Q: What other things go on at Bowles?
A: There are a lot of other things that Bowlesmen can do for fun, including hanging out in the huge lounges downstairs, playing ping pong or foosball, and listening to talented guys play the grand piano. Our Hall Staff and Hall Association also put on some pretty cool events; we've gone broomballing as a floor and I took some residents to the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco in February. One of the most memorable events is the Bowles End of the Semester Dinner; over 100 residents attended the last one.

Q: What type of room do you live in? What is it like?
A: I live in a single, but other guys in Bowles live in the quads, which consist of two single rooms on either side of a double room where all the roommates can hang out. This setup is unique to Bowles, whereas the other units are just one room that multiple people share (unless it is a suite). The bathrooms are just down the hall from my room; it's odd because some bathrooms don't have sinks so residents have to go to another room next door to wash their hands. The layout of Bowles is just weird in general.
