Justin is a sophomore majoring in music. He is from Diamond Bar, CA. Justin loves everything about music; he plays various instruments and takes advantage of every free moment he has to dance. Even though he lives at Unit 1, he often walks to other residence halls to visit his friends. |
Q: What is it like to live at Unit 1?
A: Unit 1 is like fun in a box—in that being here, I'm sure to have a good time. There is always someone to hang out with because our floor is particularly social, even though it consists of double mini-suites, so there's no running into floormates in the bathrooms like on other floors. I think the suites in our room are larger than most; it's pretty nice to have the extra space, as I share the suite with five other guys. Suites have private bathrooms, and ours has a shower, toilet, and two sinks. We all take showers at different times, so there is never a conflict.
Q: What common areas are available for resident use at Unit 1?
A: The courtyard is big and inclusive; students from all the buildings in Unit 1 share the area, and any resident can hang out there. When the sun comes out, the grass is especially nice to lie on. Underneath the courtyard, there is an exercise room, music rooms where residents can practice without disturbing others, a recreational room with a piano and a flat screen TV, and various study rooms. Although the common areas are really new and cool, my friends like to come over to my room to hang out sometimes.
Q: What places are within a ten minute walk from your building?
A: Unit 1 is close to everything. If I don't eat at Crossroads, I usually go to the Durant food court; it offers a variety of ethnic foods—mostly different Asian cuisines, but also Italian, cheese steaks, falafel, Mexican, and much more. There is a post office squeezed between the food court and the Bank of America, too, so don't go all the way down to Shattuck to mail things!
Q: What is your favorite thing about Unit 1?
A: There are a lot of things that make Unit 1 special, but the best part occasional movie nights the Residence Halls throws that brings together everyone from the entire Unit 1 to just chill and watch a movie. Did I mention there are free snacks too?
