Q: What's the first thing that pops into your mind when I say "Clark Kerr"?
A: When I think of Clark Kerr, I think of condos with nice gardens. The landscape is incredible; there are lots of trees, plants, and fountains. I really like the architecture of CKC, as the high-rises look too industrial for me. It's really easy to engage in outdoor activities here because we have a track, lots of huge grassy fields, barbeque pits, and a courtyard where people play Frisbee or chat on the phone.
Q: What makes Clark Kerr different from the other residence halls?
A: There are a lot of residential buildings at CKC, and the setup of each building is different, which is really cool. I'm pretty sure we have the largest rooms of any residence hall, even the triple rooms. I think CKC is also the only residence hall with water fountains and gardens.
Q: What is your room like?
A: I live in a triple, but it's really big. We don't even have to bunk our beds because all three beds fit on the ground with plenty of floor space. Even the communal co-ed bathrooms on each floor are bigger than the ones in the high-rises.
Q: What's a drawback of living at Clark Kerr?
A: Clark Kerr would be the perfect residence hall if it weren't so far away from campus. It's only two blocks away from Unit 2. Walking to the closest building on campus could easily take 20 minutes, so I rely on the 7 bus to get to class. If I had a bike, though, I could probably get to campus in 8 minutes.
Q: What's one of your favorite aspects of CKC?
A: The great thing about the distance is that it is really close to the Elmwood shopping area. There are many quaint and charming boutiques and great restaurants in that area! Also, frat row is on Piedmont (a street where many fraternities and sororities are housed), so it's easy to get there from Clark Kerr to socialize with the Greek students.
