Cynthia, a freshman from Houston, TX., is an intended-business major. She likes to go to aerobics classes at the RSF so that she can keep enjoying all the delicious food that Berkeley has to offer. Cynthia loves the view from her residence hall, as she can watch the sun set over the entire Bay. |
Q: What is living at La Loma like?
A: La Loma's design makes it look like a ski lodge, with trees and greenery surrounding it. There are lots of animals that call Foothill their home, including raccoons and this one very recognizable cat. La Loma is especially calming when I need some quiet space. If not, I can hang out in the courtyard, play pool or foosball, watch TV in the lounge, or try out the piano with other residents.
Q: What type of room do you live in?
A: I live in a large co-ed suite with 20 people, so there is always the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of residents. It's great to be able to hang out with people whenever I want, but if I close the door to my double room, I get enough privacy as well. I have lots of friends that live at La Loma, so I visit the other buildings every so often. It's less convenient to cross the street to Hillside though.
Q: What is Foothill close to?
A: If you have classes in Etcheverry, Pimentel, Cory, Soda, Evans, or Le Conte, living at Foothill makes your life so much easier. Also, Foothill is super close to the restaurants on Euclid, which is a mirror of the South Side shops. We've got a La Burrita, La Val's, Top Dog, Copy Central, Bongo Burger, and lots of other small cafes and corner stores. It's also pretty easy to hop on a bus to get to North Berkeley or South Side; I take one of the 52L, Perimeter, Reverse Perimeter, and F lines every day of the week.
