Welcome to the Safety Office! The door is always open for your health and safety. Bill Crowel, the Department Safety Officer, is here to help improve workplace safety for all Housing and Dining Services and Child Care Services employees. Safety is a plan-ahead job: Plan to escape from accidents and injuries by avoiding any risk-taking behaviors. Taking short cuts and cutting corners can end in cutting you. Have you seen a hazard or unsafe work action? Are you unsure if a product or process is safe? You may report safety concerns and work place hazards directly to your manager, supervisor, or Safety Committee Representative. You can also report hazards anonymously to the Department Safety Officer, Bill Crowel at 643-6074. Next, is your workstation giving you a pain? The Safety Office evaluates computer workstations for ergonomics. Simply put, ergonomics fits the equipment to you, not you to the equipment. Find out if your workstation is user friendly by calling the Safety Office for a no-cost evaluation. Bookmark and watch this page. More safety related information and Injury and Illness Prevention Program forms are being prepared for launch in the near future. Remember: Think Safety, Work Safely.
