Residents and Their Community
Building communities that support the psychological and social development of residents is at the heart of our judicial system. We understand that students enter college at different stages in their intellectual & ethical development and our judicial process is designed to meet the student where they are in that development and respond to behavior in an educationally appropriate manner, while maintaining the standards of the residential community.

Experience tells us that when individuals share in the oversight of their community, they are more likely to respect that community. To that end, residents are encouraged to serve on the Peer Review Boards that exist in each residential area.

Harmonious and Safe Communities
The Office of Student Development has the authority to adjudicate violations of the Residential Conduct Code as outlined in Bear Necessities: The Guide to Living On-Campus. Student Judicial Affairs (Campus Conduct Office) in the Office of Student Life supports community standards outside the residential communities.

In addition to supporting standards and policies at a community level, The Office of Student Development also strives to assure the safety of our residents and the development of our community through a number of other means, which include managing our programs with a special eye on staff training and performance management, and risk reduction practices.
